Gemstones

What is it a gemstone? Oxford Dictionaries defines it as "a precious or semi-precious stone, especially one cut, polished, and used in a piece of jewellery". Though the majority of gems come from inorganic origins, exceptions as amber or pearl can be found. Those, living organisms created. Besides the nature who represents the largest producer of gemstones, humans also adopted production processes of various precious stones so nowadays we may come across synthetic gemstones which have come to existence in laboratories.
There are twelve key gems serving to decorate fancy jewels. Aquamarine, chrysoberyl, diamond, emerald, garnet, opal, pearl, peridot, ruby, sapphere, topaz and tourmaline. All of them draw admiring looks, and yet some are far rarer than others. Let’s enjoy their exceptional beauty!
